Established in 2005

UC Law Business Journal (“UCLBJ”), established in 2005, explores international and domestic events in the dynamic interplay between law, business, and tax. UCLBJ serves as a valuable forum and research for legal academia by illuminating the current state of the law.

UCLBJ is one of the top business law journals in the United States. It was cited by the U.S. Supreme Court in its landmark decision AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion, 563 U.S. 321 (2011), as well as by the Delaware and Texas state supreme courts. Our content has also been cited in more than 350 other academic articles worldwide.

To continue punching above its weight, UCLBJ’s staff maintains a dedication to quality content first and foremost. Two issues are published each volume, containing scholarship written by law professors, judges, practitioners, and UCLBJ members. All content, regardless of size or platform, is subjected to a rigorous editorial process, designed to sharpen and strengthen the substance and tone.

MESSAGE FROM THE editors-in-chief

Welcome to the UC Law Business Journal. As students and editors, we are proud to continue a tradition of publishing rigorous scholarship that engages deeply with the evolving landscape of business law.

Our journal is built on the idea that law students, working together with scholars and practitioners, can help shape meaningful conversations about the most pressing issues facing markets, companies, and regulators. Each volume reflects the dedication of our editorial board and the creativity of our contributors, and we are excited to share this work with you.

This year, we are privileged to feature a distinguished group of authors from across the country, offering diverse experiences and perspectives. We also remain committed to amplifying student scholarship, which brings urgency and fresh insight to the debates shaping business law.

We are grateful to our readers, authors, and the UC Law San Francisco community for supporting this work. We hope the pieces in these pages spark new ideas, challenge assumptions, and invite continued dialogue.

Sincerely,
Jonathan and Audrey
